Anime Sekai was founded in 2003.

It started out as a hobby by an anime fan. In between the many hours of watching anime and reading manga, Jane was an avid collector and found herself buying quite a bit of merchandise. Most of these items were imports straight from Japan, with rare plush dolls being a favorite. The amount of merchandise available in the United States was very limited. Even at an anime convention it was often hard to find products from a newly released series.

Anime Central 2008 – Chicago, IL

It was at this point that Jane realized that there had to be many other people just like her who were looking for items from their favorite series but were having a hard time finding them. In 2003, Jane attended Katsucon in Washington, DC as a first-time dealer, selling plush dolls, figures, statues, and much more, some of these items being extra bits of her own collection. To her delight, many attendees shared her passion and a new business was born.

Today, Anime Sekai attends conventions across the country, bringing products from the newest anime series. Often, these are items that would never be released in the states nor imported by other vendors. Many are from series that are not very well known. When we are not at conventions, our time is spent enjoying new episodes and new series, getting to know them, and then finding and importing merchandise of our favorite characters.

We pride ourselves in the fact that this is not only a business, but it is a hobby and a passion. At every convention, we meet new people who are just as excited as we are that a series has just released a new episode or new figures have just come out.  It is very satisfying for us, to be able to talk to our customers, not only as dealers, but also as fellow anime fans, and then as friends, whether it’s sharing anime recommendations or just chit chat.

We have been in the industry for almost 6 years now and have been witnessing anime become more and more popular here in the United States. We are happy to be able to bring you the newest, rarest, quality products.
